It comes in one "universal" shade, Taupe and it is meant to suit all skin and brow tones, by just building the colour to achieve a deeper shade. So, in the picture (right) I have swatched the colour starting at the bottom with a single, light swipe and building the colour as you progress up.
In my view, the colour is:
- more of an Auburn shade rather than a Taupe
- is unlikely to ever achieve the colour depth required if your brows are naturally very deeply coloured
- has too much red in it if your brows are naturally blonde or ashy coloured
I am also not convinced that this is a "one-step tool" if you are looking to use it to create a very defined brow shape. This is because the crayon in the bullet is too chubby to produce a very defined application.
In the picture on the left, you can see my (fair) eye brow in its natural state, then with Mally Brow Fix applied directly from the wand, and finally, applied using a firm, eyeliner style brush.
My personal preference is the result achieved using the brush application - what do you think?
The waxes in the formulations definitely do help groom your brows and keep them in place throughout the day. As I have found with almost all Mally make-up, it is very long wear and the colour remains in place until you remove it at the end of the day.
In conclusion, I do not agree that this is a universal shade, and think it would be more accruately described as Auburn rather than Taupe. For ease of use, I do like the formulation mixing colour and wax into one. I do not like the crayon/wand delivery system. I will not be repurchasing once I've used it up.
Have you used Mally Brow Fix, what do you think of it?
Thanks for this, I was thinking about buying this in a kit from QVC, but I think from your pictures it will be too reddish for me.
ReplyDeleteIf you are fair like me, I think you're right. I'm normally a big fan of Mally costmetics, I think that they have great staying power, but for me, this one was not right!
