Extraordinary at Eighty Plus

Extraordinary at Eighty…. I think you get my drift.  To my mind, age has no place in beauty, young or old, it is all about an attitude of mind and a zest for life.  I know this from personal experience.  I am fortunate enough to be the daughter of two indefatigable octogenarians, who give absolutely no house-room to concepts of slowing down, retiring quietly or ‘taking things slowly’.   Having just celebrated their Diamond Wedding Anniversary, they are still living life at full throttle, active in their community, dedicated to their family and sociable, thoughtful and caring to friends.

My Mother still takes enormous care over her appearance.  She is far more daring than me with colour, has the art of accessorising down to a tee and has never looked dowdy or frumpy in her life.  She loves to try new beauty products, be that skin care,  make-up or treatments. In my late forties, I am a mere whipper-snapper compared to her.

So, I am really looking forward to this coming weekend (10th-11th May), when we’re having a lovely day out together at the Anti-Ageing Health & Beauty Show at London Olympia (details here). The show is dedicated to beauty tips, tricks and secrets – but, refreshingly, not for teenagers or twenty-somethings, but for ‘youngsters’ like me or ‘slightly more mature’ ladies like my Mum.
