May Beauty Boxes Round Up - Latest In Beauty, LoveMe Beauty, GlossyBox & You

As Latest in BeautyGlossyBox and You Beauty have just announced two special edition boxes, I thought it would be timely to do a quick review of these and some of May's other Beauty Boxes (Latest in Beauty and LoveMe Beauty).

Let's start with the YouBeauty Discovery CEW(UK) 2014 Limited Edition Box.  Containing a selection of sample tester sizes of finalists in the Cosmetic Executive Women CEW(UK) Awards, this box provides over £100 value for £16.95+£4.95 P&P for non-YouBeauty Members (total £21.90).  You will recieve:

  • Dr.Organic Moroccan Argan Oil Hair Treatment Serum 100ml
  • Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine Cream 15ml
  • Glamglow Youthmud Tinglexfoliate Treatment 15g
  • L’Occitane En Provence Almond Milk Concentrate 50ml
  • Manuka Doctor Mini Hero Kit - Rejuvenating Face Mask 7ml, Apirefine Targeted Wrinkle Filler 5ml, Apiclear Skin Treatment Serum 3ml
  • Philip Kingsley Elasticizer 40ml
  • Caudalie Divine Legs sachet
Although a bit more pricey than the standard monthly boxes, I think this is a great discovery kit.  It has good sized samples to test out (apart from the Caudalie), a diverse range of products and interesting brands. I'd rate this 5 out of 5.

If you blinked, you will have missed the British Beauty Blogger/Latest in Beauty collab, which sold out in under 24hrs.  I guess this is an improvement on previous launches, which have lasted minutes, as this one did last a few hours.

Priced at £19.95 incl delivery, it included:

  • Benefit It's Potent! eye cream 3g
  • Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara Full Size, 8ml
  • L'Occitane Divine Lotion 50ml
  • Essie Spring Shades Nail Polish (random selection from 6 Spring shades) Full Size, 13.5ml
  • REN Satin Perfection BB Cream 3ml
  • Charlotte Tilbury K.I.S.S.I.N.G Lipstick sachets 1 sachet (random shade)
  • La Roche-Posay Thermal Spring Water 50ml
  • ROGER & GALLET Gingembre Rouge 1.5ml vial
  • Janjira Hand Wash 50ml
  • LOLA Make Up Kabuki Brush Full Size
  • Makeup Revolution Awesome Eyeshadow & Eyebrow Palette Full Size (random selection from 4 palettes)
  • Bourjois Cream Blush Full size, 2.5g (shades varied)
  • Kneipp® Herbal Baths Full Size, 100ml (scents vary)
  • Bee Good Honey & Wild Water Mint 3-in-1 Cleansing Water Full Size, 100ml
To my mind, this selection is what Beauty Boxes should be about.  It really does cover all the bases - aspirational brands (tick), full sizes (tick), interesting niche brands (tick), vartiety of products skin/body/colour (tick).  The only thing that wasn't a tick was the stock quantity!!! I'd also rate this 5 out of 5.

Now onto the GlossyBox Superdrug Summer Edit Box launched this week and contain at least four full sized products.  It contains brands that feature heavily at Superdrug, so expect to find Superdrug own-brand (B. Nail Polish) and high-street brands such as Vaseline (Spray & Go Body Moisturiser) and Max Factor (Facefinity All Day Primer).  This box costs £13.25 including UK delivery.  Have to confess, this one does not appeal to me at all, but what do you think?

What I have received this month is my first box from LoveMe Beauty and also a special edition box from Latest in Beauty.

I was given a LoveMe Beauty 3 month subscription for my birthday by my brother in April. I passed on the April Box which was themed around haircare, and have to admit to being under-whelmed with May's offerings.  I choose Edition 3 which included:

  • Nail Girls nail polish in Nude Pink
  • Raw Skincare Natural balm in Rescue Me
  • Suti Trail pack in Cleanse Balm, Purity Balm and Fabulous Foot Balm
  • Go Stationery Pocket Note Books
  • Tea Pigs in Superfruit
I was not impressed that all three edits featured both notebooks and tea bags - this is meant to be a beauty box, not a lifestyle box. LoveMeBeauty boxes start at £12.95 per month including postage.  I would rate this 3/5, quite disappointed.

So now we come to my favourite Box, so much so that I've already repeat purchased!  This is the Latest in Beauty Caudalie C15 Polyphenol Discovery Box, containing:
  • Polyphenol C15 Anti-Wrinkle Defense Serum (10ml)
  • Polyphenol C15 Broad Spectrum SPF 20 Anti-Wrinkle Protect Fluid (15ml)
  • Caudalie Polyphenol C15 Anti-wrinkle Eye & Lip Cream (5ml)
This box costs just £9.95 including delivery and it has £28 of new serious skincare from a respected brand.  I would rate this 4/5.

You may have noticed that I have quoted all prices including delivery, but if you would like the low-done on all the pros and cons of the monthly costs, delivery charges, refund policies etc of the main UK Beauty Box Subscriptions, then take a look at my post Beauty All Boxed Up - The 8 Best UK Beauty Box Subscriptions

To conclude
From this month's boxes, I would have to conclude that the one-off specials provide much better value and interest when compared to the monthly subs.  You'll note that there wasn't a tea bag in sight in my top rated boxes.

Have you received any boxes this month, what did you think?
Please do leave a comment below, it would be really lovely to hear from you!
